Stat Tracker Guide
How to track stats during a game. The more you log, the better the team's data.
Important: You must be at the game
Stat tracking must be done live at the pool or field. Do not track from home while watching the stream. Your stats are synced to the game video using your real-time view of the action, so being physically present is required for accurate video timestamps.
Before the Game
Log In
Open snapstats.app on your phone or computer. Log in with the email and password from your invitation.
Find the Game
On your dashboard, find today's game. Tap/click on it to open the game detail page.
During the Game
Start Tracking
Tap the yellow Track Stats button. You'll be asked to choose your tracking scope:
- Everything - you're the only tracker
- Offense - you're tracking offense only
- Defense - you're tracking defense only
- Goalie - you're tracking the goalie
Multiple trackers?
Coordinate with other trackers. One person on offense, one on defense works great. SnapStats merges everyone's data automatically.
The Tracking Flow
For every play, the flow is always the same:
- Tap the player's cap number (the player grid is at the top)
- Tap the action button (Goal, Shot, Steal, Turnover, etc.)
- If it's a shot: pick the zone on the goal diagram, then the outcome (Goal, Saved, Blocked, Wide)
Player first, then action. Always.
Special Situations
Before logging an action during a special situation, tap the context button:
- Man Up - your team has an extra player
- Man Down - your team is short a player
- Power Play - 6 on 5 situation
- 5M - 5-meter penalty shot
Context auto-resets after 30 seconds or after logging an action.
Made a Mistake?
Tap Undo immediately to remove the last logged event. You get one undo per action.
Period Changes
When the quarter changes, make sure the period selector shows the correct quarter (Q1, Q2, Q3, Q4). If the streamer is running the game clock, this updates automatically.
Finish the Session
When the game is over, tap Complete Session. Your stats are saved and the coach can review them.
Tips for Great Stats
- Speed over perfection - log the event within a few seconds, even if you're not 100% sure of the player
- Don't stress about missed plays - something is better than nothing
- Keep your phone charged - bring a portable charger
- Stay in one spot - consistent viewing angle helps accuracy
- The coach will review everything - your job is to capture as much as possible
